ELC's Women Lead the Change on International Women's Day

Company Feature

The Estée Lauder Companies was founded by a remarkable female entrepreneur, Mrs Estée Lauder, who was a visionary and role model. This Women’s History Month, we honour Estée’s legacy, while championing the women who drive ELC’s business success today and cultivate the next generation of leaders.

ELC’s robust community of Employee Resource Groups (ERG) includes the Women’s Leadership Network (WLN). Founded in 2017 with just 400 members in North America, WLN is now the company’s first fully global ERG with chapters in North America, EMEA, UK & Ireland, LATAM and APAC with more than 2,000 members. WLN offers its members a community that provides development opportunities through hosted events, mentorship programmes and trainings, and is guided by four pillars: Business Alignment, Mentorship & Sponsorship, Professional Development and Philanthropy. In addition, the ERG has expanded to include sub-groups, including Women in Supply Chain and Women in Technology. WLN is led by Jane Hertzmark Hudis, Executive Group President, Tracey T. Travis, CFO, and Sara Moss, Vice Chair.

The Women’s Leadership Network’s success is a testament to the vibrant culture that ELC provides women from all areas of the business to lead the change.

Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day is a time when WLN and women across ELC rally to gather, share and collectively demonstrate how they are leading the change. Employees are encouraged to attend events across the global business, and learn from colleagues and peers who are leading the change. This year’s Women’s History Month programming includes, but is not limited to:

  • An event sponsored by ELC’s Women’s Leadership Network and our Network for Black Leaders and Executives ERGs focused on professional identity and how woman can support one another in the workplace through understanding their relationship with race and leadership
  • An event hosted by Women in Technology about navigating a career in technology
  • An event hosted by the Women’s Leadership Network in the UK titled lifting the lid on the menopause
  • A North America 'Power Panel' focused on how ELC leaders define their personal brand and the power of being a woman, featuring Amber Garrison, Global Brand President, Bumble & bumble.; Lynda Pak, SVP, Information Technology; Catherine Bomboy Dougherty, SVP, Global Communications; and Claire MacIntyre, VP of Human Resources, Global Value Chain.

Leading the Change: Highlighting Our Women Workforce

At ELC, we have a workforce of 82 per cent women with over 50 per cent of women at leadership levels. Almost half of our Board of Directors are women. Each day, our employees define what it means to be a woman today: they are scientists and mothers, CFOs and poets, coders and marketers, and much more.

I lead the change by designing my own future, and I'm super optimistic about what comes next.

In honour of Women’s History Month, we asked some of our employees to answer a simple prompt: how do you lead the change? In a powerful video, the women of ELC share their thoughts.
