The strength of The Estée Lauder Companies is rooted in the collective diversity of backgrounds and unique perspectives of our employees. We believe that diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives result in greater innovation and better problem-solving across our organisation.

Aligned with our vision to become the most inclusive and diverse beauty company in the world, we will continue to empower and engage our employees, encouraging them to bring their authentic self to every part of our business. We are committed to amplifying their talents and ensuring a workforce that understands and represents the global consumer base and the communities we serve.

How ELC Defines Inclusion, Diversity & Equity

At the Estée Lauder Companies, we believe that no one person, group or culture has all the knowledge, skills, or information necessary for success in our business, and it is important that unique voices are heard, shared and considered. This is how we define inclusion, diversity and equity:

Inclusion: Creating an environment that recognises, values and respects the differences that people bring to the workplace and the world, encouraging those who work at the company to bring their authentic self and feel represented in everything we do.

Diversity: All of the different characteristics, attributes and experiences that shape our identities and fuel our perspectives, behaviours and ideas.

Equity: The fair treatment of all, and the elimination of disparities in access to resources, benefits and opportunities.

Committed to Equity

The Estée Lauder Companies UK & Ireland is committed to driving equity across our business and has a collective mission to have a long-term, sustainable impact that creates a more equitable future for all, inclusive of different races, genders, sexual orientations, ages, abilities and social status.

To help ensure that our employees have a deep understanding of issues surrounding equality and the workplace, Unconscious Bias training is mandatory for all employees across all levels, brands and functions.

Racial Equity

The Estée Lauder Companies is deeply committed to sustaining a culture of equity, inclusion and belonging within our company and our communities. To that end, we have developed defined Racial Equity goals, in collaboration with our employees, consumers and partner organisations to make meaningful, long-term change.

Gender Equity

When Mrs. Estée Lauder placed her name on a jar of her signature cream 75 years ago, she challenged the status quo and built a company based on the principles of equality and women’s advancement. Today, we are still making history, with women across our organisation at every level, leading from every chair.

Gender Equity

At The Estée Lauder Companies we are committed to advancing women both within our organization and around the world. At ELC, we now see a workforce of 80 percent women with over 50 percent of women at leadership levels. Almost half of our Board of Directors are women. We believe all genders should have equal access to job opportunities and positions of leadership, including access to the tools and support to help them achieve their goals, and believe that all genders deserve equal access to health, education and economic participation, and should be presented an equal playing field. We are committed to giving women and girls access to the proper tools and skills needed to become successful and create lasting change.

To that end, we are part of the United Nations Foundation’s Five for 5 Initiative and developed a set of commitments aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goal 5, centered around achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls, with an end goal of 2025. Through the Five for 5 initiatives, we plan to address three specific goals: equality of leadership, equality of opportunity and equality of access to health and education. Additionally, we have centered our 2021 strategy around our new initiative “Opening Doors: Women’s Advancement and Gender Equality.” This initiative will allow ELC to not only honor our history but also level the playing field for all genders by furthering our strong culture rooted in inclusion and diversity, advocacy, flexibility and engagement.

In the UK & Ireland, alongside our brand social investments, we are committed to championing breast health via our Breast Cancer Campaign, addressing hygiene poverty through donating tens of thousands of personal care and hygiene essentials to Beauty Banks, promoting children’s literacy co-created programmes with the National Literacy Trust, and empowering young women via our Young Women’s Trust and Prince’s Trust grants.
